Belgium — Tyler Farrar, the star sprinter of the Garmin-Transitions team, made his first win of the 2010 season a big one, scoring a major victory on the cobblestone streets of De Panne, Belgium. Farrar outsprinted the field on his Felt F1 team bike to win the 112-kilometer Stage 3a at Three Days of De Panne.
“It feels so good,” Farrar told Cyclingnews.com after the victory. “The cobbles made it hard and it was a crazy sprint with bikes bouncing all over the place.”
The Thursday morning stage was the first of two stages on the final day of the Three Days of De Panne stage race. An afternoon time trial would likely determine the overall winner, and Farrar’s teammate David Millar, 12 seconds down in the overall, was expected to make a run at the overall win.
