Hawaii — American triathlete Tim DeBoom scored a big win in Hawaii on Saturday, turning in a strong performance on his Felt bike to win the Rohto Ironman 70.3 Hawaii. DeBoom finished the bike split in pursuit of race leader Matt Lieto and Luke Bell, and then outran his two competitors to take the win.
DeBoom, a two-time Ironman World Champion from Boulder, Colorado, posted a final time of 4:04:02, about a minute-and-a-half ahead of Bell. Lieto finished third. For DeBoom, who turns 40 later this year, it was a major win to add to his long list of accolades in the sport.
