Nov 2, 2008 - On the heels of taking the Beijing Olympics gold medal, Felt's Australian triathlete Emma Snowsill kicked off the Aussie summer with a dominant performance at the Noosa Triathlon Sunday, winning in one hour, 59 minutes, 39 seconds. The Noosa Festival is one of the biggest sports events in Australia, with the Noosa Tri bringing out many of Australia’s best athletes for an early season race on the Sunshine Coast.
And, Snowsill didn’t disappoint. In her first race since the Beijing Games, she took a 38-second lead out of the water and onto the bike. The 40k bike grew her lead. Onto the run, she extended even more, eventually crossing to win with a massive lead of over three and a half minutes. Snowsill’s win marked an incredible fifth title at Noosa. Olympic bronze medalist and fellow Australian Emma Moffatt took second, as Sarah Cowley placed third.
