Garmin-Slipstream rider Tyler Farrar got off to a great start at the Eneco Tour stage race on Tuesday, finishing second in the 4.4-kilometer time trial. Farrar, coming off the biggest win of his career at the Vattenfall Cyclassics ProTour race in Germany on Sunday, finished the Eneco prologue in 4 minutes, 56 seconds—one second behind winner Sylvain Chavanel.
Farrar’s Garmin-Slipstream teammate Bradley Wiggins, competing in his first stage race since his breakthrough fourth-place finish at the Tour de France, finished fourth, just one second behind Farrar with a time of 4:57.
Farrar powered through the non-technical prologue course on his Felt DA TT bike, just missing the win and setting himself up to have a shot at the overall leader's jersey in the days ahead. The eight-day stage race takes riders through Belgium and The Netherlands,
