Colorado Springs, Colo. (September 17, 2008)—USA Cycling has named six Garmin/Chipotle-H3O athletes to the Elite and U23 men’s squads for the World Championships Sept. 23-28 in Varese, Italy.
Coming off his recent win in the US Pro National Championship, David Zabriskie will compete in the individual time trial. Tyler Farrar, Steven Cozza and Lucas Euser (who recently won the Univest Grand Prix) will line up for the road race in support of Levi Leipheimer.
In the U23 events, Peter Stetina, who recently won the U23 National Championship time trial and finished the Tour de l’Avenir 10th overall, will represent the U.S. in both the ITT and the road race. He will be joined by VMG/Felt/RGM teammate Kirk Carlsen, the recent winner of the U23 National Championship road race.
This is arguably one of the strongest squads the U.S. has assembled for the World Championships in the last few years, with plenty of potential to bring home medals. Be sure to check back to follow the team’s results.
