Garmin/Chipotle-H3O Delivers at Vuelta a Chihuahua Internacional

Divisadero, Mexico (October 10, 2008)Tom Peterson sits in fourth place overall following the individual time trial at the Vuelta a Chihuahua. With three stages to go the leader of the Garmin/Chipotle-H3O squad is displaying the same form that took him to the bronze medal at the U23 National Championship Road Race in August.

The argyle armada’s assault on the GC began in Stage 2, the first mountain stage of the race. Tom got into a breakaway on 25km into the stage, ultimately finishing 24 seconds down on the stage winner. Teammate Jason Donald took second in the field sprint, crossing the line 2.00 down in eighth place.

Jason led the team home in stage three’s mountain finish, taking fifth at 16 seconds. Tom was eighth at 23 seconds and moved to third on overall GC. Donald moved to ninth overall.

Jason had a great ride in Stage 4’s 18.9km individual time trial. Just 1.18 off the winner’s pace, he finished 10th on the stage. Tom came home 17th at 2.09. He slid one spot to fourth overall while Jason held fast at ninth overall.
