St. George, Utah — The Kenda-Felt mountain bike team had another successful weekend on the trails, with Drew Edsall and Amanda Carey both earning wins at the True Grit endurance off-road races in Utah.
Facing the challenge of rough desert terrain, rocks, dust and some strong afternoon winds, True Grit racers had the option of 23, 50 or 100 miles. Edsall did the 50-mile race and posted the top time of 3:53. Carey, the only female to complete the 100-miler, took 9:40 to finish her grueling task.
For Carey, the True Grit win was the latest show of strength for the "Queen of the 100-milers" from Idaho. Last year she won her second-straight title in the National Ultra Endurance series and she's off to another great start for 2012.
