Ryf rocks LA Triathlon with third-place finish

Sunday, October 4, 2009
Los Angeles — Felt-sponsored triathlete Daniela Ryf of Switzerland posted the latest in a string of impressive performances with a third-place finish at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon on Sunday.

The 22-year-old Ryf put in a strong performance on the bike and ended up finishing a little more than a minute behind the day’s winner Lisa Norden of Sweden. Ryf told Slowtwitch.com that the non-drafting bike leg was critical to overall results.

“This bike [with its long 500-foot climb from sea level to downtown LA] was real demanding, and very important,” she said.

Ryf’s podium placing followed a series of impressive ITU World Championship Series results including sixth place at Gold Coast and third place in Germany. She is currently ranked fourth in ITU standings.
