Shaw Wins Two in California!

Tuesday, February 28, 2012
California — Rhae Shaw of the ExergyTWENTY12 team had a big weekend, winning  the February 25 Snelling Road Race and the February 26 Original Merced Criterium. It was an incredible start to the season for the former elite triathlete, who just joined the team this year.

One of Shaw's big goals for the season is to represent her home nation of Canada at the 2012 London Olympics. She got her season off to a great start with the two victories in California, which will go down as her first two pro wins.

Facing a field of 45 on a windy day in Saturday’s 27th Annual Snelling Road Race, Shaw made a gutsy solo move on her Felt F1 with 3 miles to go. “I just put my head down and stuck it and did some work for the finish,” Shaw said after the win. “I looked back once or twice and made sure I had a big gap [at the last turn] and knew that I given a pretty good stick.”

And it didn’t take Shaw long to rack up her second pro victory—the following day she won the Merced Criterium. Next she heads to Mar del Plata, Argentina, to represent Canada at the Pan Am Continental Cycling Championships.
