Tuesday, September 15, 2009
Great Britain — Midway through the weeklong Tour of Britain, Garmin-Slipstream rider Chris Sutton sits third overall, just 5 seconds behind race leader Kai Reus of The Netherlands.

Sutton was first to don the leader’s jersey in this year’s Tour of Britain after he won the opening stage in York on Saturday. That sprint victory marked the biggest victory in the 25-year-old Aussie’s career.

Sutton came close to another victory on Wednesday, finishing second behind Edvald Boasson Hagen of Norway in a group sprint at the end of the 148-kilometer Stage 4 in Blackpool.

The Tour of Britain continues on Wednesday with a 134-kilometer stage and will conclude on Sunday with a circuit race in London.
