Tour of Britain, Stage 2: Dean, Sutton take second and third

Monday, September 8, 2008
Newbury, England, Sept 8, 2008—Team Garmin-Chipotle’s Julian Dean finished second on Tour of Britain’s second stage, with teammate Chris Sutton taking third.

A handful of breakaways and splits throughout the 145k stage from Milton Keynes to Newbury went unfounded, and with the field sprint imminent, Australian Matt Goss ended up taking the stage win. Dean came across second, with Sutton taking third.

Teammates Dan Martin, Magnus Backstedt and Trent Lowe all finished in the lead group. Dean holds down sixth in general classification after stage two at four seconds back, while Backstedt is eighth, six seconds back.
