New Zealand — Australian Paul Van der Ploeg of the Felt Ötztal X-Bionic World Cup Mountain Bike Team made it two major wins in two consecutive weeks. A week after winning the Under-23 Australian Cross-country Series Championship, Van der Ploeg won the U-23 Oceania Continental XC Championship in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Van der Ploeg finished fourth overall in the Elite Men's XCE race, far ahead of his U-23 competitors.

“It was a great weekend to test my climbing skills and my current form,” said the 20-year-old. “I feel optimally prepared for the 2010 World Cup season.”

After wrapping up his season Down Under, Van der Ploeg will travel to Europe to join his Felt Ötztal X-Bionic World Cup teammates in the World Cup season, which kicks off April 24 in Great Britain.
