Zabriskie Claims Bronze at TT Worlds!
Thursday, September 25, 2008
Sept. 25, 2008, Varese, Italy—It was a long time coming after a setback earlier this year, but Team Garmin-Chipotle time trial specialist David Zabriskie returned to the podium in a UCI World Championship Thursday, claiming the bronze medal.
The 43.7-kilometer course was well-suited to DZ's power, and he put it to the test. He stopped the clock in 53:53:87 to claim the podium placing.
The medal marks an official return to the top for Zabriskie, who was set back earlier this year by a crash at the Giro d'Italia. He was able to make a start for the American squad at the Beijing Olympic Games, but wasn't at the top form he put on display today.
Germany's Bert Grabsch took the win, with Canadian (and coming teammate Svein Tuft) taking second. American Levi Leipheimer was fourth.
