The journey began in the winter of 2011 when a Yorkshire man got back on his bike after a long career in the Special Forces. He got the bug, something he hadn’t felt since childhood. True to his character he rapidly formed a Not For The Ordinary amateur racing team. In 2012, ‘NFTO Race’ quickly started turning heads. With zero pressure and an ethos on having a great time the results came thick & fast. The man from up North believed in his little team of local riders, and thus started making his dream a hard reality.
In 2013 the team hit the ground running, quickly notching up wins. The most coveted of which being Hugh Wilson’s victory at the Jock Wadley. The young riders started showing their true potential by kicking up a storm in Belgium. Our team made a big impression as guests at the Pearl Izumi Tour Series (broadcast on national television).
These performances gained NFTO a professional status for the 2014 season. We signed contracts with the country’s top domestic pros and put in a memorable first season with wins across the board including the likes of the UCI 1.2 Prudential Ride London classic; we were officially the no.1 ranked British team by the close of the 2014 season.
With some very exciting signings – Steele Von Hoff, Ian Bibby and Eddie Dunbar - for 2015 and some early victories against some strong competition under our belt (including the Jock Wadley Memorial and Elite Road Series Chorley Grand Prix) It’s going to be an exciting year ahead.
