Belgium — Marcel Kittel of the Argos-Shimano squad collected two stage wins in the September 27-30 Circuit Franco-Belge stage race. The 24-year-old German now has 12 victories on his Felt F1 this season.
Kittel’s first win came on Stage 2 of the four-day race, a 179km race from Antoing to Poperinge. After his Argos-Shimano team helped chase down a four-man break with 16km to go and then controlled the approach to the finish. The team reeled in a late solo break by Brit Ian Stannard and then set up Kittel for the final dash to the line.
The German speedster repeated the feat the following day on a 174km stage from Peruwelz to Ichtegem. He outsprinted Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni and Italian Andrea Guardini at the line to win his second stage of the week.
