Felt Bicycles is pleased to announce the Felt sponsored Argos-Shimano Pro Cycling Team has been awarded WorldTour status by the Union Cycliste Internationale beginning in 2013 and for the next four years. The team has moved up from Pro Continental status. The upgrade guarantees the team can race in all WorldTour events, including the Tour de France, Giro d’ Italia, Vuelta a Espana and all major stage and one-day races
Argos-Shimano is no stranger to the biggest races like the Tour de France, having ridden a successful campaign in the 2012 Tour as a wild card entry. They will select their 2013 Tour de France team from a 28-man roster announced in October 2012. The team once again includes stand-outs Marcel Kittel, a sprint specialist from Germany and John Degenkolb also of Germany. Of the 30 wins captured by Argos-Shimano in 2012 this Deutschland-duo accounted for 25 of them, with Kittel winning 13 times and Degenkolb scoring 12 victories. John Degenkolb is most remembered for his 2012 Vuelta where he won an impressive five stages.
Argos-Shimano will be riding Felt Bicycles’ race-proven F-Series road bikes and DA-series time time bikes in 2013. Both are made from Felt’s Ultra-Hybrid Carbon+ Nano carbon fiber and each features world championship-winning pedigree and design. The team will open its season at their launch in Alta Beach, Spain on Jan 10-11, 2013.
