Boise, ID–Danny Summerhill, Silver Medalist at the 2007 Cyclocross World Championships, announced today that he will be riding for K-EDGE / FELT Bicycles during the 2013-14 Cyclocross season.
“We are thrilled to have Danny back on our bikes, especially in conjunction with K-Edge and this new cyclocross program.” says Doug Martin, Sports Marketing Director for FELT Bicycles. “Danny has always been an exceptional talent and his ‘cross skills are well suited to our FX-line. Felt has always been a competition-driven company and we take great pride in aligning ourselves with quality athletes and people–Danny is both. We are excited to be racing together.”
“I’m very excited about the K-Edge / FELT Bicycles partnership,” Summerhill said. “For the past several seasons I’ve not really been supported for the cross season – riding select races independently with no real structure in place. This year I’m part of the United by Sport program and I’ve got great cyclocross sponsors in place. It’s really great to be supported specifically for cross and I’m very happy to be riding for FELT. I’m also really lucky to be working with amazing people like Kristin Armstrong and Joe Savola of K-Edge. I am really motivated for the season and I hopeful that with all of this backing I will be able to deliver a strong season and results for my sponsors.”
Summerhill intends to ride a robust domestic cyclocross season, with a focus on the UCI race weekends in Las Vegas, Waterloo, Boulder, Louisville, Los Angeles and Bend in addition to local and regional races in the Colorado area. Summerhill, a 7-time U23 and Junior National Champion in both cyclocross and road, is hoping to earn another Stars and Stripes jersey when the National Championships are held in his home state of Colorado in January.
“We’re huge Summerhill fans at K-EDGE and proud to headline a strong list of sponsors to help Danny focus his attention on cyclocross.” States Tim Kelley, K-EDGE Director of Marketing. “Danny was an early adopter of K-EDGE chain catchers. His aggressive racing style will be the ideal test of our new Garmin Mounts, Go Pro Mounts, and chain catchers.”
Danny debuted his new kit and team aboard his Felt F1X in Las Vegas last Wednesday, and while he did not have the opening he would have liked, it was just a matter of days before he collected his first win taking Day 2 in the Trek CX Collective Cup in Madison, WI finishing ahead of such notables as Tim Johnson, Yannick Eckmann, Ben Berden, Ryan Trebon and Jeremy Powers.
