Louisville, KY — 25yr old Danny Summerhill of K-Edge/Felt, who had already amassed a healthy five CX wins in the 2014-15 season prior to going into the weekend’s Derby City Cu , added no.’s six and seven as he went back-to-back on Sat (C1) and Sun (C2) to take what he called one of his best race weekends ever as a ‘crosser.
Coming off of a high quality Cincy3 Halloween weekend (above, below) where aboard his 2015 F1X he won on Friday, Danny was particularly motivated due to what might have been on Saturday (before an inopportune crash) and Sunday (before an frustrating and untimely flat). It all came together in Louisville and Danny, carrying a heap of road miles into the CX season, took the win on Saturday (below) in front of the US’ best including Jeremy Powers (2nd, at :02) and Logan Owen (3rd, at :35) in the hour-long event in Eva Bandman Park which was also the site of the 2013 World Cyclo-Cross Championships. Danny followed up on Sunday by taking the “W” in a two-man sprint with Ben Berden, and Cameron Dodge in third (at :10).
Happy with his performance it happened to come at a good time as he will now take a little bit of time off (he’s been racing since Feb) before gearing back up for the tail end of the ‘cross season, including the US National Championships in Austin, TX on Jan 7-11, 2015.
