Felt Bicycles’ off road triathlete and 7 time National Champion Josiah Middaugh  took second at the 2012 XTERRA World Championship in Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii on Sunday, October 29. The coveted XTERRA Maui Series Championship is the culmination of the XTERRA World Championship Series, a 17 race off road triathlon series with events on six continents.

Middaugh took 2nd behind Spaniard Javier Gomez by 50 seconds. Middaugh’s bike split of 1:23:34 was the fastest of the day. He held off XTERRA legend and third place finisher Conrad Stoltz by 2:23.

The Felt Edict Nine Josiah used to bag the fastest split of the day at XTERRA has Felt’s “FAST” suspension: Felt Active Stay Technology, that provides 100mm of precision tunable suspension to optimize the traction, handling and superior performance of its 29″ wheels.

Middaugh is an exceptionally versatile athlete with wins in events as diverse as the Teva Games Ultimate Mountain Challenge, an adventure race that combines whitewater kayak, trail running, off road cycling and a road hill climb time trial. In February he won the USSSA Snowshoe National Championship. He has won the punishing Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon, a bike, run, ski and snowshoe event along with the USA Triathlon Winter Triathlon Championship. His versatility extends to the road where he won the USA Triathlon Long Course National Championship in 2005.
