Zahner Podiums at World Cup Finals

Swiss cyclocross racer Simon Zahner capped off a strong World Cup season with his best result of the year at the final round in Hoogerheide, The Netherlands. The 29-year-old EKZ team rider scored his first World Cup podium finish of the season, finishing third on his Felt F1X.

The eighth and final round of the 2012-13 Cyclocross World Cup took place in wintry conditions. With snow falling, the Hoogerheide course was covered in snow and ice, causing multiple crashes among the race favorites.

Zahner made the key move on the technical course when he joined Czech rider Martin Bina, Dutch rider Lars van der Haar and Belgian Jim Aernouts. In the end, he held off multi-time world champ Sven Nys to take third. The strong finish moved the Swiss rider up to 10th overall in the final World Cup standings.
